Privacy Policy

Rave (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a content recommendation app that connects you with recommendations from real people. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a username. You may optionally add a profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from those providers.

Preferences

We store your content preferences (books, podcasts, film, TV, etc.) and your preferred recommendation frequency (daily or weekly) so we can send you personalised recommendations.

Usage & activity

We record raves you save, share, or rate, users you follow or block, feedback you submit, and the last time you were active in the app.

Device & technical information

We collect your device push token (to deliver notifications) and standard analytics data such as screen views and in-app interactions via PostHog. This data is used solely to improve the product.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account
• To generate personalised daily or weekly recommendations
• To send push notifications (which you can disable at any time in device settings)
• To show your public profile and shared raves to other users
• To understand how the app is used so we can improve it
• To respond to support requests and feedback

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party services necessary to operate Rave:

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure
• PostHog — product analytics (no ad targeting)
• Expo / EAS — app delivery and push notification routing
• Google & Apple — only if you choose to sign in with those providers

Your username and shared raves are visible to other Rave users. Your email address is never shown publicly.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

5. Security

Your session is stored securely on your device using platform-level encrypted storage. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to our database is protected by row-level security policies.

6. Children's Privacy

Rave is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy here and, where appropriate, through the app.
